Mixed Media Mojo Design Team April

So the challenge for April at Mixed Media Mojo is Spring with Showers as the twist!  I've been stamping and creating for the past year, so I am trying to build up my stash with stamps, inks and dies!  I made this quick little tag with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks, Dyan Reevely stamps and Tim Holtz Umbrella from Umbrella man stamp!  I think it is fun for spring! Haunter Mixed Media

So I have a lot of friends that are Halloween Haunters! They live Halloween 365 as do I! This little mixed media piece was made for a friend that has been helping us host at Haunters Hangout, the youtube show about Halloween Haunters. I used the new Tim Holtz Texture Crackle Paste and LOVE the awesome cracks I got from it!  The tag was a combination of Oxide Inks and Distress Sprays!!!  I think my friend will like it!

Creepy Clown Tag

So I am a Halloween Haunter and I have lots of Halloween friends!  They love anything Halloween and I am happy to indulge them! I saw a creepy clown tag made by VonPappe II on Pinterest so I wanted to make this creepy clown tag for a Haunter friend of mine that is having a birthday!  The stamp is actually from Andy Skinner but you could use Tim Holtz Skull and paint on the round nose.  Distress paints and crayons are the colors used for this tag. I like the effect! Kind of creepy!

March Masculine Birthday Card

The March Challenge continues at Mixed Media Mojo and for my second project I went with a masculine birthday card.  The challenge runs to the end of the month and the theme is Birthdays with Balloons as the twist!  So let's get started!

I wanted to show a quick easy way to make a card for someone by using an embossing folder and dies.  Often times I overwhelm myself with over thinking a card, tag, mixed media project or art journal.  I liked the clean lines of this card and the two colors of silver and black.  It doesn't necessarily have to be given to a man and one could just change the background black card and it could be used for a woman's card as well.

To start all I did was a cut a piece of black cardstock (I used Bazzill cardstock) and Tim Holtz Kraft Core silver paper into the size of an A7 card.

Then I took a Happy Birthday Embossing folder from Darice and ran the silver cardstock through my Vagabond 2 machine. I was going to leave the black card stock plain but decided I liked the embossing and ran the black through as well.

Since our challenge had a twist with balloons, I used my balloon die from Tim Holtz Crazy Things Die set and cut out 5 black balloons with strings from the Bazzill cardstock.  I then cut a thin strip of the black cardstock and embossed it and placed it horizontal across the card along with another strip of silver card stock. I glued everything down my tombow adhesive and voila!

This card was super easy to make and I like the clean lines and simplicity of the card.  A good technique that can be changed with different colored cardstock.  I hope you enjoyed this fast and furious tutorial!

March Challenge

The March challenge is up at Mixed Media Mojo!  This month's theme is birthday with balloons as the twist!  Join in as we have a great sponsor this month from Everthing Mixed Media!

My fellow design team member Christina Sedor and I LOVE Zombies! She made a walking zombie man with cake and balloons!  I decided to make a zombie birthday girl with pink lipstick and pearls! What was great is that I was inspired by fellow Tim Holtz fanatic Marty Fishman who had made a Valentine Zombie for her kids and they had these great glasses! Of course I had to have them!  What I was really excited about was using the new Tim Holtz Oxide inks and I think the layering turned out great for my Zombie Birthday Girl!  Hope you like it and don't forget to enter for March!
