TP Roll Scary Eye Halloween Project

So I love Halloween and love making props for my yard!  I had seen this project on Pinterest and always thought it was great fun but never made it. That is until I saw Tim Holtz's New Frightening Faces Dies for 2018!  Now I can make these scary faces and put them in my yard to scare my trick or treaters! Woot, woot!

So let's get started-

To get started- You will need Tim Holtz Frightening Faces thinlits die set #663090 and a die cut machine.  I have a  Vagabond 2 that I love and these also work in a Sidekick. Paper towel and toilet paper rolls, wax paper, glow sticks or battery powered votives.

Tape a Frightening Face die to the paper towel or tp roll and run through your die cut machine. Don't worry about it flattening out because it will pop back up into place. You just need to run it through once as the dies will cut through the card board.

This is what it looks like after cutting through the die machine!

Then take wax paper and roll up into a tube and insert it into the cardboard roll. Wax paper works the best because it filters the light from the glow sticks or votive candles. Without it the light only shines half way through the faces. I tried plain collage paper but it was too opaque and blocked the light.'

So depending on what size you use, you can add long or short glow sticks or changing color votives. Just trim off the wax paper and place around in your yard, on your Halloween table, in bushes or anywhere!

The eyes look awesome when it is dark! You could also paint the outside of the rolls black if you were using on your table.

Have fun and Happy Halloween!
